Fleurs Petite was created for couples who adore flowers and fresh design ideas, but don't need all the frills of a full service florist.
Molly:
I didn't always know I wanted to be a florist. What I did always feel, was that I had a fierce need to create, and that following other people's rules about how that should work never went terribly well. So, I guess art school was a pretty obvious choice. My fine art education started in high school at Walnut Hill, one of the country's only arts-based high schools, and continued at Massachusetts College of Art and Design. After finishing, like many art school graduates, I struggled with how to transform my need to create into a career. Five years later, a friend from Mass Art suggested I apply to work at the most prestigious flower shop in Boston. I was sure there was no way I would get the job; I was wrong. For almost a decade, I learned from the best of the best and worked in the finest places I could think of. I am so grateful for everything I learned there.
When I became pregnant with my first son, I knew everything about my life was going to change. I decided to leave my job, not really knowing what was going to come next. So many things about motherhood surprised me, but one of them was how much I missed flowers. I started out with a partner, another mom who understood what it was like to be balancing many priorities. We both agreed that it would probably take about five years until anyone even knew who we were.; we were wrong. After about a year, what had started out as a hobby business had turned into a full time job. It was then, in January of 2015, that I started Fleur Events, a full-service floral and paper design studio. Fleur Events has been successful beyond what I ever imagined possible. In 2017, we were named Boston's Best Wedding Florist by The Improper Bostonian. After being in business only three years, we were working with dream clients and wedding planners to curate one-of-a-kind floral design installations and working in all of our favorite venues, from private estates to historic landmarks. After a year of pushing ourselves and the business to the edges of what was possible, we realized that if we were going to continue to thrive, we needed to limit the number of bookings and raise our minimums to a place where we could afford to offer the very best service possible.
We started regularly turning away clients who couldn't reach our minimums. I began to try and think of a way we could bring beautiful blooms and specialty containers to more couples. Most people don't require a full service florist or a suspended greenery chandelier. So many people were contacting us with a simple list of what their floral needs were, and I felt like there had to be a way to make them something really beautiful but simple enough that it wouldn't come with the high prices of a full-service custom wedding florist.
So, we are thrilled to now offer fleurs petite to New England couples. An online floral marketplace where couples can choose from seven different color pallets and unique containers for fresh floral design at budget-friendly prices.
Joanna:
Joanna has always been an artist. Ever since she was a child, she was fascinated with all of the different ways she could make the variety of colors and shapes dance together. When she started her journey in the flower world, she quickly realized that the blooms danced in ways she could never put to a canvas. That ignited her passion for floristry and when she met Molly, working on her first micro-wedding in August 2020, she knew she had found what she was meant to be doing.
Ever since, she has apprenticed under Molly. She has learned the art of creating a magical experience for all of our clients. She began at the design bench, as many florists do. She spent hours creating beautiful arrangement after arrangement, until eventually her mentor, Alisha, handed over the reins, to raise her 3 beautiful babies.
Joanna now oversees Fleurs Petite and has since December 2022. It is her absolute pleasure to ensure your wedding floral is exactly as you imagined for your special day. Joanna is always here to answer any questions or concerns you may have and more than happy to do so.
Jen:
Jen has a very unique eye for the Arts. She is an extremely talented photographer and is able to capture the beauty that nature brings us in an ethereal tone. She began collecting and preserving flowers in 2017 for photography purposes, which landed her a job at a local flower shop. This is where she was introduced to the world of floral design. Her mentor, Sandie Booth, taught her everything she knew, ranging from traditional design to plant care.
With her newfound admiration for flowers, Jen decided to further her career by freelancing for local designers all over the Boston area. This path is what led Jen to our Molly and we were graciously blessed enough to welcome her into our little Fleurmily in 2022.
She now works alongside Joanna, creating gorgeous arrangements each weekend for our lovely clients.
Thank you so much for taking the time to get to know us!
